The creation of a railway line through Tuva as part of the Central Eurasian Transport Corridor is considered as a key infrastructure project for Russia, China and Mongolia. It involves the completion of the Kyzyl—Kuragino section with access to the border and further integration into international routes.
According to the estimates of the regional authorities, the implementation of the project will solve the problem of transport isolation in the south of Siberia. Currently, the distance from the main logistics directions hinders the development of industry and complicates access to foreign markets.
It is expected that the new highway will not only improve logistics, but also boost the economy of Tuva and Khakassia, including the development of production, energy and export opportunities. In addition, the project will provide access to the Northern Sea Route via the Yenisei, expanding the region's transport links.
